Desktop Support Analyst – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term (North Sydney)

About the role

SMEC is seeking a proactive Desktop Support Analyst on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to provide Level 1 and Level 2 IT support for users across the ANZ region. The role is based in North Sydney and involves both remote and on‑site assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Level 1 & Level 2 support for hardware, software and network issues.
• Troubleshoot incidents via phone, Microsoft Teams, email, ticketing system and in person.
• Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops and other end‑user devices.
• Manage onboarding and off‑boarding processes, ensuring smooth user setup and asset recovery.
• Maintain accurate documentation for tickets and support processes.
• Provide user training and guidance on IT best practices.
• Support IT procurement and asset management in line with company policies.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science.
• 2–4 years’ experience in corporate desktop support.
• Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365 (O365, Teams) and network troubleshooting.
• Certifications such as Modern Desktop Administration, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals and ITIL Foundation.
• Experience supporting users through multiple channels (phone, Teams, walk‑ins, tickets).
• Customer‑first mindset with a proactive problem‑solving approach.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to remote offices occasionally.
