Design Engineer

About the role

As a Design Engineer at Caterpillar Inc., you will create and implement new components, products, and technologies that support sustainable community development. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to turn market and customer requirements into detailed engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Research new materials and competitive products.
• Organize, coordinate, and execute the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes.
• Assist supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and performance.
• Oversee drafting and testing specialists.
• Develop and document functional requirements and translate them into detailed design documents.
• Participate in buy‑build analysis for product components.
• Support proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.

Required profile

• Degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science program.
• Previous experience with Caterpillar products or in a similar engineering role.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• Technical excellence in relevant engineering disciplines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CREO or other CAD tools.
• Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) expertise.
• Knowledge of product design and development processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and product design for production.
