Deputy Project Director – Energy Projects

About the role

Samsung C&T is seeking an influential and commercially astute Deputy Project Director to lead the execution of a complex portfolio of integrated gas and utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Western Australia. Based in the Perth office, this senior executive role focuses on strategic governance, client engagement, and delivery of business value.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑level strategic governance and ownership of multi‑faceted energy projects.
• Act as the primary interface with Samsung C&T executive management, steering committees, and partner organisations.
• Develop and oversee delivery and procurement strategies, ensuring alignment with internal governance and compliance.
• Manage commercial frameworks, safeguarding financial objectives and risk boundaries.
• Lead project‑level steering committees, resource allocation, and inter‑project dependencies.
• Serve as the main escalation point for project‑related issues and secure macro‑level approvals.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop project managers, functional managers, and discipline leads.
• Define roles, responsibilities, and team structures for smooth execution.
• Own project budgets, monitor expenditures, and prepare financial forecasts and reports for leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior project leadership within energy, gas, or utility‑scale storage sectors.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing large‑scale budgets and contracts.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including interaction with executive teams and external partners.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams.
