Demi Pastry Chef

About the role

JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa is looking for a Demi Pastry Chef to join its kitchen team and help create mouth-watering food for guests. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will be part of a team responsible for delivering high-quality products to luxury guests. The position is part-time.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods to the Chef so service stays optimal.
• Check and ensure the correct temperature of appliances and food.
• Ensure proper portion, arrangement and garnish of dishes served.
• Monitor the quantity of food prepared and the portions served.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing.
• Wash and peel fresh fruit and vegetables.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, including tables, tools, knives and equipment.
• Prepare and cook food.
• Set up, clean and break down work stations.
• Prepare and bake all in-house cakes, breads and pastries.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar environment is viewed favourably.
• Trade qualification or qualification as a Pastry Chef.
• Strong food safety knowledge.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Passion for food and aspiration to grow a culinary career.
