Data Scientist – Consulting Analytics

About the role

Quantium is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Financial Services Consulting practice. You will work on client‑facing analytics projects, turning complex data into actionable insights for banks, insurers, super funds and wealth managers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver end‑to‑end analytical work, from data preparation and exploration to insight generation and presentation.
• Structure ambiguous client problems into clear analytical plans and testable hypotheses.
• Apply statistical, data‑science and AI‑enabled methods, selecting the appropriate approach for each question.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis while critically assessing their outputs.
• Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences using narratives and visualisations.
• Maintain high‑quality, reusable documentation and code.
• Seek feedback from senior analysts and continuously develop technical, domain and consulting capabilities.

Required profile

• Clear thinker who can quickly learn new domains.
• Comfortable engaging with clients early in projects.
• Judgement to use AI as a multiplier rather than a black‑box.
• Proactive, feedback‑oriented and able to work under time‑pressured, project‑based conditions.

Required skills

• Statistical analysis and modelling.
• Data preparation, exploration and visualisation.
• Experience with AI/ML methods and tools.
• Ability to produce well‑documented, reusable code.
