Data Engineer

About the role

Rabobank’s Technology team is hiring a Data Engineer to work on a strategic Data Program that shapes the future of the bank’s enterprise data solutions. You will design, build and support scalable data pipelines on Azure while ensuring governance, security and data‑driven decision‑making across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, enhance and support enterprise‑scale data platforms on Microsoft Azure.
• Deliver high‑quality data engineering solutions on time and within scope.
• Manage platform operations, lifecycle activities and ongoing support, including incident resolution.
• Ensure data pipelines meet agreed SLAs and optimise ETL/ELT performance and storage costs.
• Validate and reconcile data across source and target systems.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, BI Developers and stakeholders to deliver data‑driven outcomes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar cloud‑based role.
• Strong hands‑on experience designing, building and supporting scalable data pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure data services (ADF, Databricks, ADLS, Synapse, Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric).
• Advanced SQL skills, including data modelling and performance tuning.
• Experience developing solutions with Python, PySpark or Scala.
• Understanding of data governance, security, privacy and compliance.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git and Azure DevOps.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
