Data Engineer (Fraud Analytics & Intelligence)

About the role

Fortiro is seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain the data foundations for its fraud detection, document intelligence and AI platforms. You will work with large‑scale datasets, data lakes and analytical workflows that directly support the detection of suspicious behaviour and improve decision‑making for financial crime prevention.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Python and SQL workflows to ingest, transform and validate massive datasets.
• Manage and optimise data in the AWS data lake environment, including S3, Glue and Athena.
• Improve data quality, monitoring and reliability across critical pipelines.
• Analyse complex datasets to uncover patterns, anomalies and actionable insights.
• Prepare high‑quality datasets for analytics, machine learning and fraud intelligence initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data specialists to deliver scalable, trusted data solutions.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in Python, including data structures and common data libraries.
• Hands‑on experience with pandas or similar tools for data cleaning and transformation.
• Proficient SQL skills with experience handling large, complex datasets.
• Experience building or supporting ETL/ELT workflows.
• Ability to work with sensitive customer and financial data.
