Data Centre Technician

About the role

As a Data Centre Technician at NEXTDC you will join the Hyperscale Facility Management team to keep our world‑class data centres running smoothly. Working in a 24/7 on‑site environment, you will deliver high‑quality electrical and mechanical maintenance while prioritising safety, uptime and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage OH&S, security and critical facility risks using the NEXTDC Risk Management Framework.
• Install and verify customer infrastructure, including power monitoring, rack security and environmental controls.
• Monitor system performance via the Building Management System (BMS) and related platforms, performing fault finding to minimise mean‑time‑to‑repair (MTTR).
• Support continuous improvement of data‑hall monitoring (temperature, humidity, alarms, power).
• Produce operational reports with recommendations to enhance reliability and performance.
• Participate in a rotating on‑call roster and assist with customer equipment handling, deliveries and assembly.

Required profile

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
• Clear written and verbal communication, capable of explaining technical concepts.
• Excellent planning, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
