Data Architect / Solution Architect (Redshift)

About the role

A full-time permanent Data Architect / Solution Architect position based in Sydney. The role centres on designing data platforms, data modelling and data architecture, and owning data products, with a strong emphasis on Redshift.

Key responsibilities

• Define and design the overall data modelling design, data architecture, strategy, data governance and data capabilities roadmap aligned with the technology direction.
• Design data platforms, tools and governing processes, and create and maintain go-forward strategies for business intelligence capabilities and tools.
• Own the data solution and data product architecture design, ensuring it moves through the prescribed governance process to approval (ARB) on time.
• Review data solutions for re-usability, scalability, synergy and alignment with best practice and guidelines.
• Create and evolve the data technology roadmap and help define best practices and integration with other enterprise solutions.
• Take part in planning, dependency identification, estimation and work breakdown identification with Project Managers, and lead workshops using architecture designs as input.
• Act as technology advisor to business and strategic leaders on data and technology direction.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional experience in data/solution architecture and data engineering.
• Strong experience building and maintaining data warehouses in big data solutions (e.g. Redshift, Teradata).
• Experience with distributed compute frameworks (e.g. Glue, EMR, Spark, DBT), data streaming platforms (e.g. Kafka/Kinesis) and orchestration platforms (e.g. Airflow, Dagster).
• Knowledge of Data Mesh and Data Product concepts; familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform).
• Telecommunications industry experience; exposure to machine learning, reporting, data sharing and data-intensive applications.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer programming or a related field preferred.
• Experience in consulting with business stakeholders, matrix organisations and various delivery methods (Waterfall, Agile).
