Data and Insights Analyst - Operations

About the role

ING is looking for a Data and Insights Analyst for its COO Analytics Centre of Expertise in Sydney. The role turns complex operational data into clear, actionable insights that improve customer, risk and business decisions, working across analytics, automation and emerging AI solutions. You will partner with stakeholders across COO Operations or COO Risk to turn business questions into scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse complex customer data and turn findings into practical recommendations for operational, customer and risk decisions.
• Partner with business stakeholders to clarify questions, desired outcomes and the right analytical approach.
• Develop reporting, dashboards and analytical solutions covering customer behaviour, operational performance, channel usage, risk signals and process outcomes.
• Use SQL and SAS to extract, transform and analyse data from multiple sources.
• Support prototyping and development of AI-enabled solutions and emerging AI agents in a banking and financial services context, with a fair working knowledge of tools such as Copilot Studio, GitHub and the Azure analytical environment.
• Apply Microsoft Copilot and related AI tools responsibly, balancing innovation with data governance, privacy and regulatory expectations.

Required profile

• 3-5 years' experience in analytics, data, automation or digital solution roles, ideally in banking, financial services or another regulated environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills, able to explain technical concepts in business terms.
• Practical experience with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI services or equivalent.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL, SAS or similar query-language capability.
• Strong Power BI and Tableau experience across data modelling, reporting, visualisation and insight storytelling.
• Data quality, data governance, data warehousing and analytical principles.
• Experience with Power Automate and/or Power Apps is desirable.
