Cybersecurity Engineer (Cloud & Hybrid)

About the role

Join Deswik’s security team in Brisbane to protect a global SaaS platform that supports the mining industry. You will work across cloud (AWS, Azure), on‑premises and hybrid environments, embedding security into design, development and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement measurable security controls for AWS, Azure, on‑premises and hybrid systems.
• Integrate security into the software development lifecycle in partnership with IT and development teams.
• Lead threat‑modelling, risk assessments and security reviews for new and existing solutions.
• Evaluate, deploy and manage security technologies such as SIEM, EDR and Zero‑Trust frameworks.
• Support incident response, forensic investigations and compliance initiatives (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, Essential Eight).
• Promote secure development practices, including DevSecOps and a secure software development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years in a security architecture or engineering role within a commercial software or enterprise IT environment.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, CISSP or CISM are highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security (AWS/Azure), identity and access management, regulatory compliance and major cybersecurity frameworks.
