Cybersecurity Analyst – Microsoft Environment

About the role

This position is a hands‑on, technical role within a purpose‑led NSW Government brand. You will work in a hybrid, flexible environment, focusing on day‑to‑day operation and configuration of Microsoft‑centric security tools while supporting the Head of Cyber.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and configure cybersecurity tools across the Microsoft ecosystem (M365, Azure).
• Perform security operations and detection using SIEM (Sentinel), EDR and XDR solutions.
• Manage vulnerability identification, assessment and remediation.
• Support detection, response and vulnerability management activities.
• Align security practices to governance frameworks (e.g., Essential Eight, ISM controls) as needed.
• Own project‑based activities and contribute to continuous improvement of the security stack.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on IT operations experience, including at least 3 years in a technical cybersecurity role.
• Strong exposure to Microsoft technologies, particularly Azure and the M365 stack.
• Familiarity with the Essential Eight and ISM control frameworks.
• Proven ability to investigate and respond to security events.
• Mid‑senior level professional capable of working autonomously with guidance.
