Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Avant is seeking a Security Engineer to join its Security Engineering team, working across on‑premises, cloud and SaaS environments to design and deliver security controls that protect people, systems and data.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer, integrate and continuously improve security controls across hybrid environments.
• Leverage automation, DevOps practices and integrations to increase efficiency and consistency of security engineering.
• Partner with technology, application and business teams to embed security into projects from the outset.
• Provide secondary support for Identity and Access Management engineering and maintain operational continuity.
• Design, build, configure and deploy security solutions for endpoint, email, network, cloud and monitoring domains.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in security engineering, cyber security or related disciplines.
• Hands‑on experience across multiple security domains such as network security, EDR, SIEM, cloud security or vulnerability management.
• Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, identity management and cloud security concepts.
• Experience implementing security controls in hybrid environments and supporting SIEM onboarding and detection engineering.
• Excellent communication skills and a continuous learning mindset.

Required skills

• CrowdStrike, Netskope, BeyondTrust, Abnormal AI, SIEM, IDAM or PAM platforms (beneficial).
• Cloud security experience with Azure and/or AWS.
• Scripting/automation using PowerShell, Python or infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
• Knowledge of APRA CPS 234, ISO 27001, NIST or CIS Controls (beneficial).
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, AZ‑500, Security+, CEH or OSCP (beneficial).
