Cyber Security Engineer – Defence Communications (12‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support critical defence communications projects across Melbourne or Canberra. This 12‑month fixed‑term role offers the opportunity to apply your security expertise to radio and satellite systems within a high‑impact environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct security assessments, risk identification and advisory services for defence communication platforms.
• Evaluate compliance with ICT architecture, network, and platform security standards.
• Produce high‑quality technical reports for stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement security controls and governance frameworks.
• Stay current with defence‑specific cyber threats and mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications and professional experience enabling eligibility for DCIAB‑CSAA endorsement as a Cyber Security Assessor.
• Proven experience with radio and satellite communication systems or other defence‑specific applications.
• Strong understanding of modern networking, operating systems and ICT architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and manage stakeholder relationships.
