Customer Service Attendant (Relief)

About the role

Join Queensland Rail as a Customer Service Attendant (Relief) and deliver world‑class service aboard long‑distance trains such as the Spirit of the Outback, Spirit of Queensland, Bundaberg Tilt Train and Rockhampton Tilt Train. This temporary full‑time position runs until March 2027 and offers the chance to travel across Queensland while working.

Key responsibilities

• Create a memorable onboard customer experience.
• Provide food and beverage service, including galley and trolley duties.
• Manage storage, preparation and cooking of food and beverage items while maintaining hygiene standards.
• Perform general cleaning and uphold food safety protocols.
• Ensure passenger safety by reporting operational issues.
• Process payments via cash and EFTPOS.
• Handle platform duties such as baggage acceptance, customer enquiries and platform cleaning.

Required profile

• Previous face‑to‑face customer service experience, preferably in tourism, transport or hospitality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic, safety‑focused mindset and willingness to go the extra mile.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage unexpected situations under pressure.
• Capability to perform occasional heavy lifting up to 20 kg.

• Annual salary of $66,837 (pro‑rata) with potential earnings up to $100,000 per year (pro‑rata) plus superannuation.
