Crown Prosecutor

About the role

The Crown Prosecutor provides senior legal advice and representation for the Director of Public Prosecutions and other stakeholders on complex criminal matters in the Northern Territory. This position involves high‑level advocacy in courts, handling appeals and advising on prosecution strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver expert legal opinions on complex criminal cases to senior prosecutors and external partners.
• Represent the Crown in all courts of the Northern Territory, including trials and appellate proceedings.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of prosecution cases, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Advise the Director of Public Prosecutions on policy, procedural and strategic issues.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate prosecution efforts.

Required profile

• Qualified legal practitioner with extensive experience in criminal law.
• Demonstrated ability to handle high‑profile, complex prosecutions.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills at a senior level.
• Excellent communication and advocacy abilities.

• Remuneration package between $179,451 and $195,425 per year (including base salary $152,751‑$166,487).
