Crescendo Lead - Music Education Program

About the role

The West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) is looking for a Crescendo Lead to lead its Crescendo Program at Medina and North Parmelia Primary Schools. Reporting to the Director, Programming & Engagement and working closely with the Schools & Education Manager, the role combines strategic and operational leadership of the program with hands-on delivery. The program develops musical excellence and creates positive social outcomes for children and families in the Kwinana community.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Crescendo Teaching Artists
• Deliver high-quality musicianship and music education outcomes
• Plan, administer and report on the program
• Engage with schools, families and community partners
• Manage scholarship pathways and student development opportunities
• Coordinate events and performances
• Evaluate the program and drive continuous improvement
• Coordinate resources, instruments and budget
• Handle health, safety and child safeguarding responsibilities

Required profile

• Experienced music educator and people leader
• Significant experience in music education, youth development or community arts programs
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support a teaching team
• Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds
• Tertiary qualification in Music Education or a related discipline
