Country Director – Sydney

About the role

The UAE government‑linked trade institution is seeking a Country Director to lead its Sydney office. You will be the sole senior representative in Australia, responsible for driving trade and investment flows between Australia and Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively engage Australian companies to encourage establishment or expansion in Dubai.
• Build and maintain relationships with government officials and private‑sector leaders.
• Plan, organise, and personally run networking events, business missions, and trade programmes.
• Represent the institution at public forums and high‑level engagements, including with senior government figures.
• Support UAE‑based businesses entering the Australian market.
• Report market developments, opportunities, and activity to headquarters in Dubai.
• Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Sydney office.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of experience in trade promotion, international relations, government affairs, economic development, or B2B business development.
• Deeply embedded knowledge of the Australian market, companies, and key contacts.
• Strong, credible networks across both government and private sectors.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented, and execution‑focused mindset.
• Comfortable engaging with senior officials and high‑level stakeholders.
• Politically aware, discreet, and able to adhere to protocol.
• No conflicting private business interests.
• Degree in International Business, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Based in Sydney with willingness to travel domestically and internationally (logistics covered).
