Counsellors - Kalgoorlie Goldfields

About the role

Centrecare, a not-for-profit organisation delivering counselling, support, accommodation, mediation and training across the Perth metropolitan, Goldfields and South West regions, is seeking three qualified Counsellors for its Kalgoorlie office. The roles are full time and permanent, and focus on helping individuals, couples and families function more healthily. The service covers Kalgoorlie/Boulder, Norseman, Leonora, Laverton, Coolgardie and Kambalda.

Key responsibilities

• Screening, assessments and support planning.
• Selecting and providing brief intervention supports for clients and carers, and assessing whether supports meet client needs.
• Delivering evidence-based counselling and group interventions.
• Referring clients to mainstream specialist services and support groups.
• Providing information and education to clients, carers, families and service providers, and arranging support for carers and families.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Counselling or a related discipline, or equivalent.
• 1-2 years' experience (Level 4) or 3-5 years (Level 5) working with children and families with complex needs.
• Case management and client service coordination experience, including intake, assessment and case management.
• Understanding of remote Aboriginal communities and their needs.
• Knowledge of early intervention and prevention programs.
• Willingness to relocate to Kalgoorlie and knowledge of the area.
• WA driver's licence, National Police Certificate (valid within 12 months) and Working with Children check or eligibility.
