Cost Accountant

About the role

The Cost Accountant will join the Linley Valley Pork business unit of Craig Mostyn Group, providing accurate costing, margin analysis and profitability insights to support operational performance and commercial decision‑making across the pig processing value chain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for carcass, primal and value‑added products, analysing yield, labour performance and variances.
• Build costings for new products and work with NPD and Sales to assess commercial viability and contribution margins.
• Produce SKU‑level profitability reports, identify under‑performing items and recommend pricing or process improvements.
• Monitor daily and weekly margin performance, highlighting drivers of margin erosion.
• Model optimal carcass utilisation and advise on mix strategies to improve throughput and profitability.

Required profile

• Accounting degree (finance or related field); CA/CPA qualification preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing environments such as meat processing or FMCG.
• Strong understanding of yield‑based costing, overhead allocation and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
