Corporate Counsel - Customer & Technology

About the role

Transurban is seeking a proactive, commercially minded Corporate Counsel - Customer & Technology to join its Customer & Technology Legal team, reporting directly to the Head of Legal. You will advise the Customer and Technology business units on practical legal matters, balancing compliance and risk with commercial goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on Australian Consumer Law, privacy, data governance, AI, cyber security, intellectual property and corporate and roadside technology matters.
• Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including customer service agreements, software licensing and vendor contracts.
• Review marketing and trade promotion materials, customer communications, toll products and fees, loyalty programmes and debt collection frameworks.
• Advise on business development, bids, tenders and new commercial opportunities.
• Evaluate proposed legislative changes and implement strategies protecting the company's interests and reputation.
• Partner with Customer and Technology teams and manage external legal counsel cost-effectively.

Required profile

• Solicitor admitted in Australia with a current practising certificate.
• 3 to 6 years of post-qualification experience in a corporate law firm and/or in-house team.
• Proven commercial contracting experience, including software licensing, privacy, consumer law or data governance.
• Knowledge or strong interest in AI, cyber security and customer rewards/loyalty programmes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
