Consultant, Brokerage Operations

About the role

The Consultant, Brokerage Ops will join Northern Trust's APAC Brokerage Operations team in Sydney, supporting trade support, middle‑office, settlements, reconciliations and governance for the region’s client base.

Key responsibilities

• Perform capital markets operations activities across trade support, settlement, reconciliation and account maintenance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Support APAC domicile clients and inbound execution from the global client base, handling accounts, transactions and projects.
• Analyze transaction and operational data to resolve issues and monitor processing timelines against service expectations.
• Review transactions, positions and cash activity for compliance with policies and control requirements.
• Identify and implement workflow, procedure and control improvements to enhance efficiency and risk awareness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and typically 3+ years of experience in capital markets, brokerage operations or trade support.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for building tactical relationships with peers and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of equity and fixed‑income products, with derivative experience considered an advantage.
• Understanding of brokerage and capital markets operations, including trade processing, settlement and reconciliation.
• Experience or interest in technology, coding, automation and AI integration.
