Construction Supervisor – Pumped Hydro Project

About the role
Queensland Hydro is seeking a Supervisor to provide independent, client‑side surveillance and assurance over civil, mechanical and electrical works at the Borumba Pumped Hydro Energy Storage project. Reporting to the Construction Manager and working an 8/6 site‑based roster, you will ensure that all contractor activities comply with design, contractual and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Attend daily on‑site at all active work fronts and conduct regular inspections of non‑active fronts.
- Perform quality management surveillance on civil, mechanical and electrical works, verifying that the built product meets contractual requirements.
- Review contractor quality documentation (lot records, ITPs, ITRs) to ensure completeness and compliance.
- Attend site inspections for the release of Witness and Hold Points identified in contractor ITPs, working closely with Queensland Hydro Quality Engineers.
- Verify contractor compliance with Queensland Hydro SMP, including SWMS, risk assessments, change management, personnel training, plant & substances, and scope‑specific hazards.
- Prepare daily reports covering plant & equipment, key KPIs, resources, weather, access and road conditions.
- Liaise with the Construction Manager/Field Construction Manager and provide structured status updates.
- Coordinate with public and private property owners prior to land access activities.
Required profile
- Ability to provide daily physical attendance on site across multiple work fronts.
- Experience in supervising civil, mechanical and electrical construction activities.
- Strong understanding of quality management processes and contractual compliance.
- Effective communication with contractors, engineers and external stakeholders.
