Community Volunteer Visitor – Social Companion

About the role

An elderly woman living in an aged care community in Bonnells Bay is looking for a friendly volunteer to visit for a cuppa and a chat. She is a former nurse who enjoys connecting with others and would greatly appreciate social support and companionship. The volunteer visits for about an hour, and regular visits can help improve quality of life and reduce isolation.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the resident for a one-hour chat and conversation, bringing a cup of tea or coffee.
• Provide social support and companionship to brighten her day.
• Visit weekly or fortnightly, depending on availability.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged.
• Reference check.
• Volunteer training provided.
• A warm smile and a listening ear; an hour to spare each week.

Visits are scheduled for one hour between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday. HammondCare is an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme, funded by the Australian Government, and aims to connect elderly people with volunteers in their local community. Interested applicants are contacted by phone or text, and then by email if needed.
