Community Volunteer – Polish/Czech Language Companion

About the role

A sports-loving elderly gentleman in Tahmoor would greatly enjoy having a volunteer spend time with him. He enjoys watching soccer on TV as well as documentaries about the planet, animals and different places. HammondCare is looking for a volunteer who speaks Czech or Polish and is available for regular visits. This is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, which promotes links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community.

Key responsibilities

• Spend time with the elderly gentleman during regular visits, sharing conversation and his interests in sport and documentaries.
• Provide companionship that makes his day more engaging and enjoyable.
• Visit regularly; the scheme aims to improve quality of life and reduce isolation.

Required profile

• Speaks Czech or Polish.
• 18 years or older.
• A national volunteer police check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.

What we offer

• Regular visits of 1 hour, between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, weekly or fortnightly.
