Community Support Worker

About the role

The City of Brimbank is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Support Worker to support elderly people on home care packages and disabled people of all ages who live in their own private homes in the Brimbank area. The position is a permanent part-time role.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care to clients with high care needs, including assistance with showering, grooming and dressing, and use of a hoist and manual handling
• Offer domestic assistance such as meal preparation, cleaning and companionship so clients can stay in their own home
• Help clients with social support, transport to appointments and shopping, and community outings
• Work varied shifts, including weekday days and potentially weekends

Required profile

• A passionate, caring and empathetic personality is essential
• Must be located in the City of Brimbank
• Certificate III or IV in Community, Aged Care, Disability or equivalent is highly desirable
• Valid driver's licence and own vehicle are required
• Current First Aid certificate, police check and NDIS worker screening check are mandatory, or willingness to obtain them

Required skills

• Willingness to learn new skills on the job through training
• Experience in aged care or community is highly desirable
• Experience with high care and dementia clients, bowel care and catheter care is highly desirable
