Community Social Volunteer (Coffee Outing)

About the role

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity that supports people to live in their homes and maintain their independence. It runs the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, which connects older people with volunteers in their local community. The volunteer team is looking for a caring person to visit an elderly client in the South Coast suburb of Nowra. The client enjoys reminiscing about her travels, coffee, socialising and going out, and would like a volunteer to come for a cup of tea and a chat, or go to a café together if the weather permits.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the client for a cup of tea and a chat, or meet at a café in town if the weather allows.
• Provide regular social visits that can help reduce isolation and improve the quality of life of older people.
• Visit for about one hour, between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday; frequency depends on availability, from weekly to fortnightly.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• A national volunteer police check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Availability for a one-hour visit during the week, with weekly or fortnightly visits depending on availability.
