Community Development Officer

About the role

The Community Development Officer will work closely with local residents, community groups, and partner organisations to design and deliver initiatives that strengthen social connections and improve wellbeing across the Gympie Region.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate, support and implement community development projects that address local needs.
• Apply contemporary community development principles to build capacity, participation and connection.
• Coordinate volunteer activities, community events and engagement sessions.
• Contribute to the Council’s Community Grants Program and monitor outcomes.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Passionate about strengthening communities and fostering inclusive environments.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Experience working with community groups, local government or non‑profit organisations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
