Community Development Officer

About the role

The Community Development Officer will lead community‑focused initiatives that align with CHL’s Community Development Framework. This full‑time permanent position is based in Blackburn, VIC, and offers the chance to make a tangible impact on housing poverty through collaboration with local groups and government bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with local residents to co‑design initiatives that reflect community ideas and ensure ownership.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with community organisations, garden groups, and other weekly activities.
• Manage community development projects from planning through delivery.
• Build strong relationships with government agencies, research bodies, and businesses to support project goals.
• Promote the Community Development Framework both internally and externally.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in the peer‑support network.

Required profile

• Natural connector with a passion for social impact and community engagement.
• Creative, resilient and highly organised.
• Commitment to housing rights and social inclusion.
• Current driver’s licence, satisfactory police check and Working With Children/Vulnerable People checks.
