Communications Officer

About the role

This position supports a major regional project by shaping and delivering communication strategies, managing reputational risk, and engaging a wide range of stakeholders. You will work in a fast‑paced project environment, providing advice on risk assessment, issues management, and transparent community outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement integrated communication plans, campaigns, events and public‑facing initiatives.
• Identify and mitigate reputational and project risks through targeted messaging.
• Lead stakeholder and community engagement with government agencies, partners, contractors and local groups.
• Manage media relations, prepare key messages, briefing materials and responses.
• Ensure governance frameworks comply with policies, legislation and organisational standards.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in community and stakeholder engagement, preferably within government or construction/engineering.
• Strong time‑management and organisational abilities in a dynamic project setting.
• Proven background in strategic communication, public relations and executive correspondence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all audience levels.

What we offer

• Start date: August 2026, 3‑year casual temporary assignment ending August 2029.
• Full‑time, Monday‑Friday onsite role in Buderim, Sunshine Coast.
• Hourly rate $69.21 – $75.09 + superannuation.
• Requirement to complete a National Police Check and hold full Australian working rights.
