Communications Officer

About the role
The Communications Officer supports the development, delivery and evaluation of communication strategies for the department’s Veterans, Carers, Volunteers and Inclusive Communities portfolio. Working within the Strategic Communications team, the role bridges policy and communications to produce high‑quality print, digital and multimedia content and to manage departmental events.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in creating and implementing communication strategies, including printed, online and multimedia materials.
- Produce and edit content for departmental publications, websites, social media and event materials.
- Provide communications advice to ensure consistency with Victorian Government guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver communication products on time and within budget.
- Support out‑of‑hours media rosters, emergency communications and large‑scale campaigns as required.
Required profile
- Strong written and visual communication skills meeting government standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid work permit.
- Willingness to participate in emergency or out‑of‑hours duties.
