Commercial Manager – Defence Export Programs

About the role

The Commercial Officer provides complex commercial advice, contract management and procurement outcomes for the Export Program PMO within Amentum's Defence export context. The role works in an integrated workforce of ADF, APS, contractors and other stakeholders, ensuring value for money and compliance with Commonwealth legislation and Defence policy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial support and advice for Defence export contracts.
• Develop, review and evaluate contract documents, CDRL data items, plans and contractor proposals.
• Draft and progress correspondence, briefs, reports and committee documents.
• Manage contract change proposals and monitor contractor compliance with legislative and policy frameworks.
• Identify commercial and enterprise risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Interface with JORN Sustainment and HFRPO teams to manage contract interdependencies.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Business, Law or relevant tertiary qualification, or vocational qualifications (Cert IV/Diploma) in contracting, procurement or commercial fields.
• Eligibility for NV1 security clearance and access to US export‑controlled data (ITAR).
• 8+ years experience managing Defence contractual relationships across prime, 2nd and 3rd tier contractors.
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
• Ability to work independently in a high‑pressure environment.
