Commercial Manager (Construction & Remote Communities)

About the role

The Commercial Manager will act as the second‑in‑charge to the Senior Commercial Manager, providing leadership across daily operations and driving the long‑term growth and sustainability of the Bukmak and BBSNT businesses. This role supports the social and economic development of remote Aboriginal communities in Northern Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver projects from pre‑construction through handover, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety.
• Monitor operational and commercial performance, identify efficiencies and manage project margins.
• Lead business development activities, identify new revenue streams and manage tender preparation and contract acquisition.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, partners, internal stakeholders and remote communities.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and career pathway support for team members, especially First Nations peoples.
• Travel regularly to Bukmak and BBSNT worksites by vehicle or light aircraft to review progress and produce monthly reports.
• Assist with strategic planning and step into the Senior Commercial Manager role when required.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in construction, maintenance or commercial operations with solid project delivery knowledge.
• Proven track record in business development, revenue generation and successful tendering, including government contracts.
• Strong financial management skills – budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to workplace health, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Experience working in remote First Nations communities or knowledge of Northern Territory government contracts is highly regarded.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications are a plus.
