Collections Officer – Aged Care

About the role

St Vincent's Care Services in Brisbane is seeking a Collections Officer to support the financial sustainability of its aged care services by managing resident and client accounts with professionalism, empathy and integrity. The role reports to the Collections Manager and works with a high degree of autonomy within defined financial delegations. There is one permanent full-time position and one six-month fixed-term full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Manage assigned resident and estate accounts to support timely, accurate and compliant collection of aged care fees
• Engage respectfully with residents, family members and representatives to resolve outstanding accounts
• Negotiate and manage payment plans, monitoring compliance and follow-up
• Handle objections, disputes and sensitive financial conversations professionally
• Identify potential financial risk and help reduce aged debt
• Collaborate with operational, clinical and corporate teams on end-to-end billing and collections
• Support reporting on collections activity, debts and payment trends
• Maintain accurate records and comply with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements

Required profile

• Experience in accounts administration, collections, finance or a related role
• Desirable: experience in aged care, health or a regulated environment, and exposure to debt management or collections
• Strong numeracy, attention to detail and time management
• Person-centred approach and ability to work independently and in a team

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to learn new systems quickly
