Coding Support Officer

About the role

NSW Private Hospitals is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Coding Support Officer to join its Health Information Services (HIS) team at Mater Hospital and Sydney Private Hospital. The role supports the Clinical Coding function so that hospital separations are processed quickly and completely, working closely with the Manager HIS and the Clinical Coding team.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage outstanding clinical coding workloads and hospital separations.
• Liaise with Visiting Medical Officers, Practice Managers and external providers to resolve clinical documentation queries.
• Generate and analyse reporting systems (e.g. Webpas) to track and prioritise discharge coding.
• Coordinate outstanding documentation to support the coding team.
• Assist with internal and external coding audits, including system access and documentation retrieval.

Required profile

• Experience in a hospital or health information environment (highly desirable).
• Understanding of health information systems such as Webpas and deLacy (desirable).
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or an Australia visa granting the necessary work rights; visa sponsorship is not available.
