Coastal Safety Officer

About the role

Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) is looking for a highly organised and motivated Coastal Safety Officer to join its Lifesaving Services team in South Brisbane. The role supports the delivery of lifesaving services across Queensland through accurate operational reporting, grant coordination, quality management systems and public safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate operational, statistical, accreditation and compliance reporting
• Support quality management systems, audits and continuous improvement
• Handle grant administration, funding records, acquittals and reporting, and identify grant opportunities
• Maintain operational databases, records and documentation
• Assist with coastal risk audits and safety data analysis
• Prepare reports, briefing notes, presentations, correspondence and meeting documentation
• Support training programs, meetings and events for the Brisbane Lifesaving Service
• Work with stakeholders to support public safety outcomes

Required profile

• Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain one) and current driver's licence
• Experience with compliance, governance, quality assurance or audit processes
• Quality management qualifications or experience (highly regarded)
• Grants administration experience (highly regarded)
• Surf lifesaving or emergency services experience (highly regarded)
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally and meet deadlines

Required skills

• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Experience preparing reports, minutes, presentations and correspondence
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities
