Coal Quality Tester

About the role

ALS is hiring a full-time Coal Quality Tester for its Gladstone, Queensland laboratory. The role supports coal sampling, testing and laboratory operations on a rotating 8-hour roster covering morning and afternoon shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Sort bags of samples weighing up to 16 kg.
• Operate sample preparation equipment such as weighing scales, crushers and pulverisers.
• Perform routine manual tasks in a coal processing environment and process samples accurately and efficiently.
• Carry out general laboratory duties, including cleaning and maintaining work areas.
• Follow Quality Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures, prioritise safety and fast turnaround of test results, and keep the lab tidy and organised.
• Contribute to the development, review and continual improvement of quality systems and procedures.

Required profile

• A strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and reliability.
• Previous coal testing or laboratory experience is highly regarded.
• A valid driver's licence.
• Eligible to work in Australia (citizen or permanent resident, or holder of a valid working visa).
