Boilermaker - Fabrication Workshop

About the role

A client of WorkPac is seeking a Boilermaker for its Fabrication Workshop in the Mackay and Central Queensland area, based in Gladstone. The position is casual, paid $60-$70 per hour, with 12-hour day shifts on a 4-on-4-off lifestyle roster.

Key responsibilities

• Support the repair and rebuild of reduction cells and associated heavy industrial assets
• Repair and rebuild reduction cells after end of service life
• Aluminium bus bar welding and structural steel welding
• Gas cutting and aluminium lancing
• General workshop equipment servicing and fabrication
• Work within site safety procedures and permit-to-work systems

Required profile

• Boilermaker trade qualification
• Yellow medical certificate, with no history of asthma or lung issues
• Construction white card
• Confined space and working at heights qualifications
• Previous experience at a smelter, refinery or heavy industrial operation is highly regarded, as is workshop maintenance and shutdown experience

Required skills

• Welding qualifications and demonstrated aluminium and steel welding experience
• Gas cutting competency and demonstrated lancing experience
• Desirable: dogging, basic rigging, forklift, EWP, first aid and fire extinguisher training
