Cloud DevOps Engineer – Hybrid (Contract until 31 Dec 2026)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer to join a modern transformation initiative for a Queensland Government client. The role focuses on optimizing software delivery, automating cloud infrastructure, and championing DevSecOps and GitOps practices in a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, managing state, locks and modules.
• Automate cloud environments across AWS, Azure and Confluent.
• Create and manage artifact builds for serverless and containerised applications.
• Orchestrate containers and serverless workloads.
• Develop monitoring and observability solutions for performance tracking.
• Contribute to internal DevOps standards and best‑practice documentation.

Required profile

• Strong expertise with AWS services (VPC, serverless, ECS, IAM, etc.).
• Deep knowledge of IAM and security‑focused coding practices.
• Proven experience in DevOps/SRE, including CI/CD, incident response and reliability engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash; Java knowledge is a plus.
• Advanced Git skills, including branching strategies, pull‑request reviews and IaC versioning.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, CIDR, subnets, firewalls, load balancing).
