Clinical Nurse – Robotic Surgery

About the role

The Senior Clinical Nurse – Perioperative Robotic Surgery provides advanced clinical leadership within the operating theatre, focusing on general surgical procedures performed with robotic assistance. You will ensure optimal patient outcomes, support efficient theatre operations, and mentor perioperative staff.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily robotic surgery scheduling and resource allocation to maintain patient flow and operational efficiency.
• Manage workforce rostering, operational planning, and inventory of robotic equipment.
• Oversee equipment readiness, maintenance, and compliance with robotic system standards.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, competency frameworks, and clinical protocols for robotic surgery.
• Monitor quality, utilisation, and operational data to drive continuous improvement.
• Provide intra‑operative robotic support and troubleshoot equipment issues during procedures.
• Lead onboarding, education, competency assessment, and ongoing development of peri‑operative and robotic surgery teams.
• Build collaborative relationships with surgeons, executive leadership, and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse authorised to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
• 5–7 years of nursing experience, including at least 3 years in a relevant peri‑operative specialty.
• Demonstrated experience with robotic surgical systems.
• Deep understanding of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and peri‑operative workflow.
• Strong clinical leadership and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, including scheduling and equipment oversight.
• Analytical problem‑solving ability to interpret program data and resolve equipment issues.
• Adaptability and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
