Clinical Nurse - Mental Health (Early Intervention)

About the role

Queensland Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse with a mental health background to join its Early Intervention Programs, working in partnership with Headspace to support young people aged 12 to 25. The role is based in Brisbane (South) and involves specialist mental health nursing care, clinical leadership and support for other clinicians.

Key responsibilities

• Support young people aged 12 to 25 with complex mental health concerns and help them access timely, coordinated care.
• Deliver specialist mental health nursing care through assessment, care planning, therapeutic interventions and ongoing management.
• Work with Headspace and multidisciplinary teams to strengthen clinical pathways and support transitions between services.
• Provide clinical leadership and support through consultation, collaboration, education and guidance to other clinicians.
• Work autonomously within a collaborative team across the Meadowbrook and Beaudesert Headspace centres, with opportunities to help develop the Early Intervention Program.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Experience in mental health nursing, ideally including child and youth mental health.
• Sound clinical judgement, a person-centred approach and the confidence to work with complex presentations and build therapeutic relationships.
• Advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to clinical leadership, continuous learning and supporting the development of others.

The position is a fixed-term temporary role (12 months) in the Health - Nursing occupational group, Nurse Grade 6, advertised as full-time or part-time. Applications are made online; agency referrals are not accepted.
