Clinical Nurse - Haemodialysis

About the role

Fresenius Medical Care is looking for a Clinical Nurse to work in its haemodialysis centres across Australia, including the Brighton clinic. The nurse delivers patient-centred care in line with APHRA standards and acts as a senior team member who supports the clinic manager in clinical, management, education and quality activities.

Key responsibilities

• Apply advanced nephrology nursing skills to plan, deliver and evaluate patient care in the haemodialysis setting
• Act as primary coordinator of care for a group of dialysis patients, working with other health care providers
• Provide education and support to patients and their carers
• Support and guide Level 1 registered nurses, enrolled nurses and PSA's, and act as preceptor and role model
• Deliver staff education, run professional development programs and take part in clinical research projects
• Take part in quality improvement, infection control and occupational health and safety monitoring, and report incidents, hazards and improvements
• Maintain accurate patient records, including the Therapy Data Management System (TDMS), and respect confidentiality
• Liaise with nephrologists and the allied health team, and deputise in a higher-level position when requested

Required profile

• Registered general nurse with AHPRA and a current practising certificate
• Minimum three years of current relevant nursing experience
• Holds or is working towards an approved nephrology nursing qualification
• Advanced clinical competence in nephrology nursing and demonstrated ability to educate staff and patients
• Commitment to quality improvement, effective communication and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and to reflect on practice
• Minimum 60 rostered hours per fortnight
