Clinical Nurse Educator

About the role

A permanent full-time Clinical Nurse Educator position is open in the Palliative Care Unit at Braeside Hospital in Prairiewood. The role delivers clinical education programs that help staff provide high-quality, customer-focused care, working with the Nursing Unit Manager, the CNC, the HammondCare Health Education Lead and other clinical managers. It is a NSW Health-affiliated organisation, so NSW Health transferrable entitlements are recognised.

Key responsibilities

• Provide educational leadership and clinical guidance to unit staff to develop their knowledge and skills in the specialty
• Promote a culture of enquiry and learning that supports person-centred practice
• Work with the Nursing Unit Manager, CNC, Hammond College and other clinical managers to build a cohesive clinical team
• Deliver clinical nurse education and run programs based on needs analysis
• Evaluate clinical education programs and report outcomes to the Nurse Unit Manager

Required profile

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
• Postgraduate qualification in palliative care or extensive clinical experience in the specialty
• Education qualification or willingness to complete one is an advantage
• Experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator or Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advantage
• Experience managing a team of skilled professionals

Required skills

• Demonstrated skills in developing, delivering and evaluating education programs
• Proven ability to lead clinically and mentor nursing staff
• Initiation or participation in quality improvement initiatives
• Strong administrative and computer skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
