Clinical Nurse – Child & Youth Mental Health

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (CN) provides advanced clinical and problem‑solving expertise for children, youth and families with complex care needs. Working autonomously within the Healthcare Team at Queensland Children’s Hospital, the CN leads specialist nursing care, crisis intervention and coordination of child and youth mental health reviews.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and crisis interventions for paediatric mental health patients.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver specialist nursing care across the hospital.
• Support day‑to‑day nursing staff, promote skill sharing and build capacity.
• Ensure quality standards are met in line with CHQ leadership frameworks and Queensland Health awards.
• Contribute to direct patient care, system support, education, research and professional leadership.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in child and youth mental health.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong clinical judgement, problem‑solving and planning skills.
• Commitment to quality outcomes and alignment with CHQ values.
