Civil & Structural Engineer

About the role

Fyfe is growing its civil and structural capability in Brisbane and is looking for an early-career engineer who wants to take an active part in design, not just model someone else's design. Reporting to the Civil Design Manager or Team Leader, you will work across multiple projects, producing civil and structural designs, calculations and documentation, with work spanning residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. A strong preference is given to experience in mining or other non-road environments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver civil designs covering stormwater, drainage, earthworks, site services and supporting infrastructure
• Produce structural designs for footing systems, slabs, retaining walls and steel and concrete structures
• Apply design thinking in 12d Model, developing solutions rather than just producing models
• Coordinate with engineers, designers and drafters to create accurate, well-documented and constructible drawings
• Manage assigned project components to agreed time, budget and quality requirements
• Liaise with clients, councils and contractors and take part in design meetings and site inspections
• Share knowledge and support graduate engineers as your experience grows

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Structural or a related discipline
• Approximately 2-4 years of post-graduate civil and/or structural engineering experience
• Hands-on experience in civil design, not solely modelling or drafting
• Experience outside a predominantly road-based environment; mining, resources, industrial facilities or associated infrastructure experience highly regarded
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or full Australian working rights; agency applications not accepted

Required skills

• Hands-on use of 12d Model
• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, engineering codes and authority requirements
• Clear communication and ability to manage multiple project priorities
• Valuable: SPACE GASS, Microstran or AutoCAD, and progress toward Chartered Professional Engineer status
