Civil Project Manager

About the role

A rapidly growing civil contractor with a strong pipeline of work is looking for a Civil Project Manager. This is a site-based, full-time role based in Townsville, Queensland, where you take full ownership of delivery, programme, cost, safety, quality and performance. You lead engineers, supervisors and site teams, set direction and make decisions, while keeping an eye on risks and where the job can improve.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for delivery, programme, cost, safety, quality and performance
• Lead engineers, supervisors and site teams, ensuring the job is planned and delivered properly
• Manage expectations and build client relationships under pressure
• Work through issues rather than escalating everything, and keep the job moving

Required profile

• Civil Engineering degree
• Strong site-based experience delivering civil projects
• Experience leading engineers, supervisors and project teams
• Ability to manage programme, cost and delivery without losing control of the detail
• Comfortable dealing with clients and holding relationships under pressure
• Willingness to be site-based and move with the work (QLD / NSW)
• Nice to have: TMR or similar civil infrastructure projects, roads, earthworks, structures or utilities background, mentoring engineers, exposure to planning tools and earned value / cost tracking systems

Required skills

• Strong understanding of contracts, variations and commercial risk
• Ability to drive project margin

What we offer

• Pay of $200,000 to $270,000 plus flights, accommodation and a company vehicle
• Full ownership of delivery and the space to run a project properly
