Civil Labourer – Drainage & Road Works

About the role

The Council is seeking a practical, hard‑working civil labourer to join its outdoor crew within the civil delivery team. You will work on underground and under‑road drainage, pits, pipes and small concreting tasks, providing essential support to keep our community infrastructure running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general labouring duties on roads, drainage systems and concrete works.
• Assist the crew with day‑to‑day tasks, rotating through various activities as required.
• Back‑up teammates, follow instructions from the Crew or Team Leader, and ensure all work is completed safely and to standard.
• Perform after‑hours and weekend maintenance when needed.
• Use a phone or tablet to log basic job information.

Required profile

• Mandatory Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
• Current MR class driver’s licence.
• Strong oral and written communication, numeracy and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to a positive safety culture and compliance with health‑safety legislation.

Required skills

• Construction Industry White Card
• MR Class Driver’s Licence
• Certificate II in Civil Construction (or equivalent experience)
• Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) accreditation or ability to obtain
• Plant Operators Certificate of Competency for light plant and machinery
