Civil Engineer – Water & Wastewater Design

About the role

Beca HunterH2O is seeking an Intermediate-level Civil Engineer to join its multidisciplinary water team in Newcastle. You will work on the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs, pump stations and conveyance pipelines, supporting both on‑site and off‑site client solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design engineering of water and wastewater treatment facilities, reservoirs, pump stations and pipelines.
• Review design requirements, conduct site investigations and perform calculations and modelling.
• Oversee drafting, prepare reports, specifications and technical documentation.
• Build strong client relationships and provide engineering solutions on and off site.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in water and wastewater treatment and pipeline design.
• Experience delivering projects in a consulting environment as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence project outcomes.

Required skills

• Water and wastewater treatment plant design.
• Pipeline and conveyance system design.
• Technical calculations and modelling.
• Drafting oversight and preparation of reports/specifications.
• Knowledge of Australian standards, WSAA codes and safety‑in‑design principles.
• Risk identification and management for engineering projects.
