Chief Operating Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to partner directly with the Founder/CEO of a fast‑growing Australian financial services firm. Reporting to the CEO, you will be the clear number two, taking ownership of day‑to‑day operations so the CEO can focus on growth, capital markets and strategic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Own the annual operating plan, budget and cost base across all business units.
• Drive cross‑functional alignment across spot FX, proprietary trading and digital assets divisions.
• Design and implement governance frameworks, reporting structures and operating cadences for a regulated, fast‑moving environment.
• Lead a high‑performance team of approximately six direct reports, building leadership capability and organisational effectiveness.
• Launch and scale a new digital assets business unit, overseeing licensing, infrastructure and go‑to‑market execution.
• Instil accountability, execution rigor and operational discipline throughout the organisation.

Required profile

• Commercially minded operator with a track record of scaling businesses through rapid growth or complexity.
• Experience in regulated multi‑asset trading or financial services environments.
• Proven ability to build and align senior leadership teams around a common operating rhythm.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with hands‑on execution capability.
