Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – New Venture

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will lead a newly created for‑profit subsidiary of the Black Dog Institute, tasked with scaling mental‑health programmes, education services and AI‑enabled products. Reporting to an experienced Advisory Board, the CEO will combine strategic vision with hands‑on execution to drive profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and scale the new commercial enterprise, overseeing all aspects of operations and growth.
• Strengthen and expand the existing portfolio of mental‑health and education services.
• Develop and launch new AI‑driven products and revenue streams.
• Maintain the scientific integrity and reputation of the Black Dog Institute while pursuing commercial objectives.
• Lead sales efforts for complex B2B solutions to enterprise and government clients.

Required profile

• Proven track record of building or transforming a business through start‑up, spin‑out, carve‑out or turnaround with full P&L responsibility.
• Experience translating research or intellectual property into commercial products.
• Success selling complex B2B solutions to senior‑level enterprise or government buyers.
• Ability to balance commercial ambition with evidence‑based standards and brand reputation.
• Resilience and tolerance for ambiguity in a scale‑up environment.

Required skills

• Fluency in AI concepts and commercial application.
